Recount is a 2008 political drama television film about Florida's vote recount during the 2000 United States presidential election. Written by Danny Strong and directed by Jay Roach, the television film stars Kevin Spacey, Bob Balaban, Ed Begley Jr., Laura Dern, John Hurt, Denis Leary, Bruce McGill, and Tom Wilkinson.
In this dramatization of the 2000 Presidential election, Al Gore concedes the Presidency to George W. Bush, but recants when he learns of irregularities in the Florida vote count. Democratic strategists Ronald Klain and Michael Whouley race to Florida to uncover the truth, as do Republicans under James Baker III.
This is the first time I've ever seen the tragic 2000 election story told in an interesting and entertaining way. The film shows how retail politics really works, including the idiosyncracies of local systems and local personalities.

Questo film lo ha diretto il regista di Austin Powers, qui brillantemente utilizzato per finalita serie: sfornare un film tratto da una storia vera, serio, politico e avvincente. E riuscire a rendere avvincente la storia del riconteggio dei voti dell'elezione americana del 2000, quella forse vinta da Gore ma poi incredibilmente fatta vincere a Bush, é gia di per se un'impresa.
