Born in Brooklyn, New York into an upper middle class black family on June 30, 1917, Horne battled racial injustice throughout her career. Despite her obstacles she became one of the most well known African American performers of the 20th Century, achieving fame as a singer and actor.

Lena Mary Calhoun Horne (Nova Iorque, 30 de junho de 1917 - Nova Iorque, 9 de maio de 2010) [1] foi uma famosa cantora e atriz norte-americana.
