9 feb 2022 · Eurovision Song Contest. @Mahmood & BLANCO won the 72nd Festival di Sanremo with their song 'Brividi' and with it the opportunity to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest on home soil in Turin. This will be Mahmood’s second Eurovision appearance having already represented Italy with his song 'Soldi' in 2019, finishing second in Tel Aviv.
Insgesamt 41 Länder sollten 2022 am Eurovision Song Contest teilnehmen, so viele wie zuletzt 2020 am abgesagten Eurovision Song Contest teilnehmen hätten sollen. Zuvor nahmen ansonsten nur 2019 ebenso viele Länder teil. Die Bekanntgabe der 41 Länder erfolgte am 20. Oktober 2021 durch die EBU über ein YouTube-Video.
