John Swihart is an American musical composer for film and television. He is perhaps best known for his score to Napoleon Dynamite, [1] Youth in Revolt, [2] Employee of the Month, [3] and his music for the TV shows How I Met Your Mother, [4] and Go On. [5]

My dad had 18 PhD students during his career, and planted our last name on the world with something called the "Swihart Wave". I studied Piano at age 4. I picked up alto Saxophone at age 10, then switched to Baritone Sax to play in the Jazz Band at High School North.
On to Berklee College of Music, then many years of playing shows up and down the east coast and working as a session guitar player. Eventually becoming part of the Blue Man Group as a musician in the band which brought him out to LA and then into the world of film and television. Napoleon Dynamite is the film that put John on the map.
