Maha Thray Sithu U Thant (Pantanaw, 22 gennaio 1909 – New York, 25 novembre 1974) è stato un diplomatico birmano, terzo segretario generale delle Nazioni Unite dal 1961 al 1971.
From 1951 to 1957, Thant was secretary to the prime minister, writing speeches for U Nu, arranging his foreign travel, and meeting foreign visitors. During this entire period, he was U Nu's closest confidant and advisor.
