Nel 2001, anno di uscita di "Gosford Park", da Altman ci si sarebbe potuto aspettare qualcosa inseribile in una fase discendente della carriera di uno dei grandi maestri del cinema americano, col cavolo invece perché Altman tira fuori dal cilindro l'ennesimo filmone della sua carriera, sempre all'insegna dei tentativi e della sperimentazione, non priva di scivoloni ma colma di film eccezionali.
