Alan Hale had a substantial role in one of my favorite comedies, The Inspector General starring Danny Kaye. And yes, Alan and Alan Jr. were remarkably similar in appearance and acting style. It’s a shame Alan died in 1950 (age 57), well before his son’s biggest acting successes.
