David Gilmour was born on 6th March 1946 in Cambridge, the second child of Douglas Gilmour, a senior lecturer in Zoology at the University and Sylvia, a teacher. Best known as guitarist, vocalist and writer with Pink Floyd , he is also renowned for solo work and collaborations with other artists including Kate Bush , Paul McCartney , and Pete Townshend .

6 mar 2024 · David Jon Gilmour, nato il 6 marzo 1946 a Cambridge, Inghilterra, era un buon amico di infanzia di Barrett, con il quale al tempo delle scuole imparò a suonare la chitarra. Già nel 1962 duettavano insieme durante le prove del suo gruppo “Mottoes”, sciolto come neve al sole per fare posto a esperienze con vari gruppi locali come i “Ramblers” o i “Jokers wild”.
David Gilmour was born in Cambridge on March 6, 1946. While still a teenager, he met with fellow citizens Roger Waters and Syd Barrett (later founders of Pink Floyd): with the latter, he attended the Cambridgeshire College of Arts and Technology and in the summer of 1965 hitchhiked to the South of France, where the two performed on the streets playing guitar.
