Maria Eleonora of Brandenburg (11 November 1599 – 28 March 1655) was Queen of Sweden from 1620 to 1632 as the wife of King Gustav II Adolph (Gustavus Adolphus). She was born a German princess as the daughter of John Sigismund, Elector of Brandenburg , and Anna, Duchess of Prussia , daughter of Albert Frederick, Duke of Prussia .

25 nov 2017 · After a chaperoned dinner, the King personally proposed to Maria Eleonora, who said yes. Despite protests from her son, the Duchess managed to smuggle her daughter out of Brandenburg to Mecklenburg, where Swedish ships were waiting to bring her to Kalmar. Following a month of travelling at sea, Maria Eleonora arrived safely in October of 1620.

Elisabeth of Brandenburg (24 August 1510 – 25 May 1558) was a Duchess consort of Brunswick-Göttingen-Calenberg by marriage to Eric I, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, and Regent of the Duchy of Brunswick-Göttingen-Calenberg during the minority of her son, Eric II, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, from 1540 until 1545.
