The Prestige begins with shots of several dozen top hats inexplicably strewn about in a forest. Cutter (Michael Caine), in voiceover, explains the three parts of a magic trick while performing a disappearing bird trick for a little girl. Part one is the pledge, where the magician shows you something ordinary, like a bird.

31 dic 2006 · Con una sceneggiatura impeccabile, il racconto "porta" dove vuole il regista fino al doppio colpo di scena finale degno dei migliori illusionisti e vero "prestige" cinematografico. Nel cast spiccano Christian Bale, ormai grande e maturo interprete, e il grande Bowie di cui il cinema dovrebbe accorgersi più spesso. Da vedere e rivedere.
20 apr 2020 · Spesso sottovalutato dalla critica, seppur sempre discretamente recensito, The Prestige (stasera alle 21 su Iris) è un’opera chiave per capire il cinema di Christopher Nolan, una sorta di dichiarazione d’intenti, dove forma e contenuto procedono parallelamente in una riflessione alquanto articolata sul cosa vuol dire fare cinema e raccontare storie.
