The history of St Catharine's College, Cambridge, from its 15th-century foundations to its newest building projects. St Catharine's College was founded in 1473 by Robert Woodlark. He had spent nearly twenty years buying up tenements in what is now Queens’ Lane until he had a site large enough to accommodate the little hall which he called ‘Saynt Kateryns Hall of Cambridge’.
The Shakeshaft and Sherlock Libraries are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 22 mag 2024 · St Catharine’s is a very strong college for NatSci, with some of the lecturers supervising you in first year, which is a huge advantage. The supervisors here are all very supportive and committed, often willing to go the extra mile to help solve problems you had with the lectures and frequently helping students find summer work and placements.
St Catharine’s College turned 550 on 25 November 2023, the Feast of St Catharine’s, and the College community has been proud to celebrate this important milestone by reflecting on our historical inheritance, applauding our present-day achievements, and honouring the generosity of benefactors over successive generations.
