Quicksilver Messenger Service is an American psychedelic rock band formed in 1965 in San Francisco. The band achieved wide popularity in the San Francisco Bay Area and, through their recordings, [4] with psychedelic rock enthusiasts around the globe, and several of their albums ranked in the Top 30 of the Billboard Pop charts.

Quicksilver Messenger Service was een van de bands die optraden bij de Gathering of the Tribes in het Golden Gate Park in San Francisco in 1967. Quicksilver was een psychedelische muziekgroep, opgericht door Dino Valente (artiestennaam van Chet Powers). De andere leden waren John Cipollina, Jim Murray, David Freiberg, Greg Elmore en Gary Duncan .

Without a string of charting singles to help drive album sales in the manner that the Jefferson Airplane enjoyed, their original LPs mostly passed unnoticed outside of the locales where they played regularly.
