  5. 27 lug 2004 · Vietnam: A Television History is an excellent piece of video journalism. I had seen it before, on PBS, and had read the book. I had forgotten the impact the visualization of history can carry, and this production carries a big bang. I was especially pleased with the episodes on "America's Mandarin," and "America Takes Charge."

  6. Review by Stephen Talbot ★★★★½. The first and the best major television history of the U.S. war in Vietnam. Made by WGBH in Boston in collaboration with British and French TV. Based on the excellent book by Stanley Karnow, "Vietnam: A History" and directed by filmmaker Richard Ellison. It was first broadcast in 1983 in a 13-part series.

  7. Tue, Oct 4, 1983. This first episode in the series deals with the history of Vietnam up to 1954. By 1885 the French were in control of Indochina and over 20 years or so pacified the population. Central to the 20th century history of Vietnam is Ho Chi Minh. Ho moved to Paris in 1917 and joined the Communist Party in 1920.
