Paul Rudolf Parsifal "Percy" Adlon (German: [ˈpɛɐ̯si ˈaːdlɔn]; 1 June 1935 – 10 March 2024) was a German director, screenwriter, and producer. He is associated with the New German Cinema movement (ca. 1965–1985), and is known for his strong female characters and positive portrayals of lesbian relationships.
Percy Adlon is best known for his film "Bagdad Cafe" aka "Out of Rosenheim." He was born on June 1, 1935 in Munich, the son of Paul Rudolf Laubenthal, a prominent opera singer, and Susanne Adlon, and grew up in Ammerland/Starnbergersee, in the Bavarian countryside.

Percy Adlon was born in Munich in 1935, and grew up amongst the cattle farms of the Bavarian countryside with his mother, whose family owned the famed eponymous hotel in Berlin. Adlon credits his mother with inspiring the sympathetic and nuanced portraits of strong, unconventional women in many of his films.
