Brief Synopsis. Flop vaudeville performer Len Carmody is adopted by Kelly, a trained dog abandoned by Malo's dog act. When Kelly joins Len's ho-hum song and dance, a popular comedy act is born. On the train, Len meets young Mina Van Runkel, daughter of a movie producer in desperate need of new talent (it's 1930).

Production. Zelly and Me was the first film by writer and director Tina Rathborne. The film was greenlit by David Puttnam during his tenure as head of Columbia Pictures, and was based on Rathbourne's own childhood. Rathborne cast Rossellini's real-life partner David Lynch in a small role in the film, as Rossellini's character's lover.
