16 nov 2001 · When Tom comes crashing into Jessica's life from the boughs of a burning tree, she is both alarmed and intrigued by his dark nature. The woods are Tom's sanctuary from his distressing home life and they become the world where he and Jessica form a bond which is powerful and uncompromising and ultimately self-destructive.
'My Brother Tom' has been my most anticipated film since the 28th December 2019, that was the day I watched 'From Dogma to Dogville: Don’t Try This at Home' which showed some clips of 'My Brother Tom' while Robby Müller talked about the film. The clips shown looked incredible and Müller's stunning cinematography was as beautiful as always.
A teenage girl, Jessica, befriends a teenage boy called Tom, who is bullied by a local gang. She is abused by Jack, who is both her neighbour and school teacher, and Tom is sexually abused by his father. Together they bond in the woods, creating a private reality that no-one else can enter.
