Susan Cunliffe-Lister, Dowager Countess of Swinton, Baroness Masham of Ilton, DL, DSG (née Sinclair; 14 April 1935 – 12 March 2023) was a British crossbench member of the House of Lords. She was a member of the House of Lords since 1970. She was the senior female life peer. She was paraplegic because of spinal cord injuries in her early life.
Susan has written a book 'Days of Yore: A History of Masham'. The book can be bought at the Masham Community Office, or Swinton Estate reception. In the 2019 New Year Honours , Cunliffe-Lister was appointed a Dame Commander of the Royal Victorian Order [3] by Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of her many years of service as the Lord Lieutenant of the East Riding of Yorkshire.
