Impossibile non pensarci di fronte a quello che forse è il suo dipinto più famoso: la Notte stellata, un vero e proprio sogno dipinto su tela, dipinto nel giugno 1889 e oggi custodito al Museum of Modern Art di New York.

La Notte stellata è dipinto durante la permanenza di van Gogh nell’ospedale psichiatrico di Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. È datato giugno 1889, un mese dopo l’ingresso, tredici mesi prima del suicidio.

It depicts the view from the east-facing window of his asylum room at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, just before sunrise, with the addition of an imaginary village.
