Landkreis Stendal is een Landkreis in de Duitse deelstaat Saksen-Anhalt. Het ligt in de Regio Altmark. Bij de tweede herindeling van Saksen-Anhalt op 1 juli 2007 is het niet gewijzigd. De Landkreis telt 110.485 inwoners (31 december 2020) [1] op een oppervlakte van 2.423,04 km². Kreisstadt is de stad Stendal .
Stendal liegt unweit westlich der Elbe in der südöstlichen Altmark. Berlin ist etwa 120 Kilometer entfernt, Hannover etwa 150 Kilometer. Leipzig ist etwa 160 Kilometer und Hamburg etwa 180 Kilometer entfernt. Stendal liegt etwa 55 Kilometer nördlich von Magdeburg auf der Achse Wolfsburg –Berlin.
