The "Eton Boating Song" is the best known of the school songs associated with Eton College that are sung at the end of year concert and on other important occasions. It is also played during the procession of boats. The words of the song were written by William Johnson Cory, an influential master at the school.

The first proper boarding House, Jourdelay’s, was built in 1722 to accommodate the growing number of Oppidans. 40 years later, there were 13 Houses, largely run by teachers, known at Eton as Masters. Each year, we offer up to two promising students the option to be artists in residence. This enables the boys in the Drawing Schools at Eton to have an insight into what happens at the contemporary British Art College. Recent artists in residence include the very up-and-coming John Rainey, Alvin Ong, Liana Lang, Guler Ates and Katherine Jones RA.
