In 1377 custody of Little Hallingbury was granted to Thomas of Woodstock, earl of Buckingham, later duke of Gloucester, on his marriage to Eleanor de Bohun, but in 1384 the manor was assigned to her sister Mary, by then wife of Henry of Bolingbroke, later King Henry IV.
