Mit Borussia Dortmund und dem FC Bayern München wurde er u. a. fünfmal Deutscher Meister und viermal DFB-Pokal-Sieger, mit dem FC Bayern gewann er außerdem im Jahre 2013 die FIFA-Klub-Weltmeisterschaft.
