So my friend recently wrote this incredible screenplay that I'm most likely going to be the DA on and the way the character arc evolves and sort of resolves itself is very subtle and minute. It got me thinking of Manchester by the Sea, so I rewatched it today.
I love Manchester by the Sea for that very reason. It's all about the subtle, nuanced character development. Another film that comes to mind is The Wrestler. Mickey Rourke's character, Randy "The Ram" Robinson, is a washed-up wrestler struggling to come to terms with his fading stardom.
