Dazed and Confused really does feel like Richard Linklater was making a version of American Graffiti for his generation, so it’s more dialogue-heavy and has many overlapping storylines unlike the recent examples I mentioned. I would also consider Kicking and Screaming (1995) in the same vein though it takes place over a longer span of time.
