18 ore fa · The Local Government Act 1972 created a two-tier system of metropolitan counties and districts covering Greater Manchester, Merseyside, South Yorkshire, Tyne and Wear, the West Midlands, and West Yorkshire starting in 1974. Manchester was a district of the Greater Manchester metropolitan county.

3 giorni fa · The ward of Erdington ceased to be part of the constituency in 1974 due to the Local Government Act of 1972. Sutton Trinity ward was created in June 2004, at which time the then other three wards' boundaries were changed.
The increasing expense and administrative work undertaken for the relief of poverty in the late 17th and 18th centuries reflected both the town's growing population and its prosperity. The cost of poor-relief was nearly doubled between 1676, when it was £329, and 1700, and again between 1700 and 1750.
