See, I hate when sci fi do that. Most popular « realistic » science fiction start with fear of the unknown. And end up with humans as the centre of everything. At the start humans are more advanced than we are now, but not that much. In Alien they don’t have warp drive nor holodeck. Then those more advanced humans stumble into a larger galaxy.
