1 giorno fa · According to the Chronicon Paschale, the church was consecrated on 15 February 360, during the reign of the emperor Constantius II (r. 337–361) by the Arian bishop Eudoxius of Antioch. It was built next to the area where the Great Palace was being developed.

After Constans was killed by the usurper Magnentius, Constantius laid claim to the Western Empire, and after defeating Magnentius took possession of it, becoming sole emperor.
Found coin in my son’s collection. Seems to be a Constantius II but would appreciate a second pair of eyes. The back side is illegible. Pictures of both the obverse (front) and reverse (back) with good lighting and a straight shot. Even when I thought coins were completely illegible, I've still seen some amazing IDs.

It would appear that this Constantinian coinage at London came to an end after the deaths of Crispus and Fausta, which took place in July and August 326; or perhaps earlier, since there are no coins of Constantius II, who became Caesar in Nov. 324.
