Criminal Justice Sciences Program. Degree Offered: M.S. The Department offers both thesis and culminating research options for completion of the master's degree. All master's degree programs require a minimum of 50 percent of the non-thesis credit hours applied to the degree to be 400-level courses or above.

About. The Department of Criminal Justice Sciences was established at Illinois State University in 1972 as a program in Corrections. Due to the changing needs for education in this rapidly growing academic and professional field, the decade of the 1980s brought major changes to the department.
