The first MCU movie was 2008's Iron Man, starring Robert Downey Jr., which led to the four mega-successful Avengers movies, among others.
Space physics don't matter. It's a movie about space wizards. But when the fate of characters are impacted by whether or not the writers remembered the existence of vacuums, the movie suddenly turns space physics into a real issue, because it's no longer set dressing, but an actual in-universe threat that needs evaluation.
