He married Princess María de las Mercedes of Bourbon-Two Sicilies on 12 October 1935, and had issue (including Juan Carlos I of Spain). Infante Gonzalo: 24 October 1914: 13 August 1934 (aged 19) also a haemophiliac. He died in a car accident in Austria.
