Dorothy Spencer (née Sidney; later Smythe), Countess of Sunderland (5 October 1617 – 5 February 1684), was the wife of Henry Spencer, 1st Earl of Sunderland, and the daughter of Robert Sidney, 2nd Earl of Leicester, and Lady Dorothy Percy.
Il 20 luglio 1639 sposò a Penshurst Place lady Dorothy Sidney, figlia di Robert Sidney, II conte di Leicester, la quale aveva precedentemente rifiutato la mano a Edmund Waller: fu un matrimonio felice, allietato dalla nascita di tre figli.
Era il figlio di Henry Spencer, I conte di Sunderland, deceduto durante la Guerra civile inglese mentre combatteva per la causa realista, e di lady Dorothy Sidney. Robert ereditò il titolo del padre a soli tre anni, divenendo barone Spencer di Wormleighton e conte di Sunderland.
