The principalities were ruled by the Kings of Prussia from December 1849 onwards, with the Hechingen and Sigmaringen branches obtaining official treatment as cadets of the Prussian royal family.

Das Kloster Beuron wird heute noch von einem Benediktinerorden bewirtschaftet und blickt auf eine lange Geschichte zurück. Das Kloster ist auch eine Station auf dem Jakobsweg zwischen Tübingen und Konstanz.
