2 giorni fa · Bach’s assimilation of both Pachelbel’s and Johann Michael Bach’s writing can be seen in “Was Gott tut, das ist wohlgetan,” BWV 1116. The setting relies on the Central German concept of fore-imitation, and through the first 25 measures and the presentation of the five phrases of the chorale in the soprano it maintains the placid 8th-note movement of Pachelbel.
