5 giorni fa · Early Life and Background. Born on August 4, 1900, as Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon, in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, Queen Elizabeth was the ninth of ten children of Claude Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, and his wife, Cecilia Cavendish-Bentinck.

When her husband Claude inherited the title of Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne in 1904, she automatically became known as Cecilia Bowes, Lyon Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne.
