Both Bob Eichler and Gary Niederhoff were effusive with their praise for this recording. “Sleep Dirt remains one of Zappa’s better works,” writes Eichler. “This is a great Zappa album,” writes Niederhoff. And then Robert Christgau gives the album a B+.
