According to Abrahamic religions, Aaron (/ ˈ ær ən / ARR-ən or / ˈ ɛər ən / AIR-ən) was a prophet, a high priest, and the elder brother of Moses. Information about Aaron comes exclusively from religious texts, such as the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament (Luke, Acts, and Hebrews), and the Quran.

He acted together with his brother in the desperate situation of the Israelites in Egypt and took an active part in the Exodus , their liberation from bondage there.
