Ruby explores the bottom range of his horn (no one else has found such sonic splendor in those depths), then climbs, and quotes (like the composer) from another Satchmo gem, “That’s My Home.” Sargent gets off a terrific second chorus during his outing, and when Ruby returns his horn gets that Lester Young flavor.
He had it from the start, but it's grown wider and deeper with time and is, quite simply, one of the marvels of jazz today. There's only one Ruby Braff, and if you are like me, you can«t ever get enough of him. So add this little gem to your Braff shelf."
