Originally recorded & intended as the follow up to Poi Dog Pondering album "Wishing Like A Mountain", The recordings that became "Vague Gropings In The Slip Stream" were passed on by Sony/CBS for being too obscure, and instrumental, and decidedly non-pop.

Poi Dog Pondering is an American musical group which is noted for its cross-pollination of diverse musical genres, including various forms of acoustic and electronic music. Frank Orrall founded the band in Hawaii in 1984, initially as a solo project.
Recorded at Arlyn studios in Austin 1989/90, Kit Ebersbach came out from Hawaii to help me produce the Palm Fabric Orchestra album, We tracked this song for PDP with him one afternoon. Kit Ebersbach on Piano, Bruce Hughes on Bass, Susan Voelz on Violin, Max Crawford on trumpet, Ted Cho and Adam Sultan on guitars, Frank Orrall on Drums and Vocals
