Alexander is a Republican member of the North Carolina State Senate, representing the 44th district. Alexander has served previously as mayor of Shelby, North Carolina and as chair of the Cleveland County, North Carolina Republican Party.
Ted Alexander is a native North Carolinian, born and raised in Morganton, NC. He is the son of the late Bill and Mary Ann Alexander, who most recently lived in Nebo, near Marion. He has been married for 30 years to the former Patti Powell, the daughter of Hal and the late Dorothy Powell of Asheboro.
