Aaron Joseph Neville (born January 24, 1941) [1] is an American R&B and soul singer. He has had four platinum albums and four Top 10 hits in the United States, including three that reached number one on Billboard 's Adult Contemporary chart. "Tell It Like It Is", from 1966, also reached the top position on the Soul chart for five weeks.
I always loved this track and so with Willie’s permission, “The Maker” was superimposed overtop. Tony Hall overdubbed harmony basses, Cyril Neville played gembe, Art Neville played piano and Aaron Neville sang support and response vocals. Malcolm and I played the rest of the instruments. It was reissued in 2005 with new cover art (but otherwise identical to the original) and then issued again in 2021 as Acadie (Gold Top Edition) and only the 2021 edition is available for streaming. Acadie was named the 20th greatest Canadian album of all time in Bob Mersereau's 2007 book The Top 100 Canadian Albums.

Inspired by Lanois' work with the Neville Brothers, it has shuffling beats and beautiful bass lines that mesh perfectly with Lanois' and Aaron Neville's mellifluous vocals. Lanois revised this track for the Willie Nelson album Teatro (Island, 1998).
