Penetrating psychedelica is how one would describe "The Universe of Absence" by guitarist Gary Lucas and lute player Jozef Van Wissem. Lucas used to be the guitarist for Captain Beefheart but more recently he is also known for expeditions into Chinese String territory.
In 2003–2004 Lucas collaborated with Dutch lutist Jozef van Wissem on the Universe of Absence and Diplopia. They have performed live on Dutch national TV together. Lucas si è esibito come DJ con le DJ Cosmo in alcuni concerti in Romania ed in India. This one, The Universe of Absence, is evocative in the best sense, a real poke in the inner eye. Below the title is at least one name that could follow through, make good on that title’s promise, one Gary Lucas, guitarist in end stage Captain Beefheart.
