Froebel College, founded 1892, has sustained outstanding success in academic life, especially in teacher education, profoundly influenced by its traditions.
The college was founded as a women's teacher training college in 1892 by followers of Friedrich Fröbel. The Froebel Society had been formed in 1874 and in 1892 Julia Salis Schwabe led an initiative to found a college for training teachers.

Set in over fifteen acres of historic parkland the College now is home to the Departments of Dance and Education, but the students allocated to Froebel College can be studying any academic subject offered by the university.
Working artists, i.e. dancers, visual artists, actors, and musicians teach children in schools while attending lectures at Froebel College in child-centred education, classroom management, and the unique learning needs of the maltreated child.
In 1892, followers of Fröbel established a college of teacher education in South West London to continue his traditions. Froebel College is now a constituent college of Roehampton University and is home to the university's department of education.
