James Robbins, better known as J. Robbins, is an American rock musician. Career. Robbins began his career as a bassist for Government Issue, and has also led five of his own bands: Jawbox, [2] Rollkicker Laydown, Burning Airlines, [2] Channels, and Office of Future Plans. [3] .

Darknight Basilisk is a gorgeous record, fantastically triumphant and so uplifting. J. Robbins knows how to write brilliant upbeat pop rock songs. Favorite track: A Ray of Sunlight. Lake of Berra Exquisite Corpse is just perfect as I knew it would be! One of the finest song writers of any generation doing what he does best.
j. Robbins has been the singer/guitarist and principal songwriter in several DC-and-Baltimore-area post-punk rock bands since the late 1980s, most notably Jawbox, Burning Airlines, and Channels. He is also owner and operator of the Magpie Cage recording studio in Baltimore MD.
