- Why Texas Law
The University of Texas School of Law (Texas Law) is the law school of the University of Texas at Austin, a public research university in Austin, Texas. According to Texas Law’s ABA disclosures, 87.20% of the Class of 2022 obtained full-time, long-term bar passage required employment (i.e. as attorneys) nine months after graduation.
To apply for admission as a first-year student, please register with the Law School Admission Council (LSAC), the Credential Assembly Service (CAS), and submit the following required materials: Application Fee. Personal Statement. Résumé. Letters of Recommendation.

History of Texas Law. The University of Texas School of Law began as The University of Texas at Austin’s Department of Law when the university was founded in 1883. The law school started with two professors and 52 students in the basement of the university’s Old Main Building.
