Lucy Kaplansky (born February 16, 1960) is an American folk musician based in New York City. [1] Kaplansky has a PhD in clinical psychology from Yeshiva University [2] and plays guitar, mandolin, and piano.
Richard Shindell, Lucy Kaplansky, and Dar Williams. Cry Cry Cry was a folk supergroup, consisting of Richard Shindell, Lucy Kaplansky, and Dar Williams. The band released an eponymous album of cover songs on October 13, 1998. The trio toured in 1999 to support the album.

Richard Shindell (born August 3, 1960) is an American folk singer, songwriter, producer, and musician. Shindell grew up in Port Washington , New York, and now lives in Buenos Aires , Argentina, with his wife, Lila Caimari , [2] a university professor, [3] [4] and their children.
In 1998 Lucy teamed with Dar Williams and Richard Shindell to form supergroup Cry Cry Cry, and recorded some of their favorite songs written by other artists. The resulting album, Cry Cry Cry (which The New Yorker dubbed “a collection of lovely harmonizing and pure emotion,” and to which Entertainment Weekly gave an “A” rating), was an astonishing success in stores and on radio.
She released her second album, [album artist=Lucy Kaplansky]Flesh and Bone, in 1996. In 1998 Kaplansky joined with Dar Williams and Richard Shindell to form the folk group Cry Cry Cry, which made an album and toured extensively resulting from the success of the originally planned six week tour.
