In statistics, the number of degrees of freedom is the number of values in the final calculation of a statistic that are free to vary. Estimates of statistical parameters can be based upon different amounts of information or data.
The degrees of freedom formula for Error DF is: n – P – 1. In our example that is 29 – 2 – 1 = 26. P is the number of coefficients not counting the constant.
From Wikipedia, there are three interpretations of the degrees of freedom of a statistic: In statistics, the number of degrees of freedom is the number of values in the final calculation of a statistic that are free to vary. Estimates of statistical parameters can be based upon different amounts of information or data.

7 lug 2022 · The degrees of freedom of a test statistic determines the critical value of the hypothesis test. The critical value is calculated from the null distribution and is a cut-off value to decide whether to reject the null hypothesis. The degrees of freedom affect the critical value by changing the shape of the null distribution.
