In the Studio is the third studio album by British ska revival band the Specials. It was released under the name the Special AKA in June 1984, their only album under that name. The album took over two years to produce before finally seeing release, by which time the original Specials had long since disbanded.

2 apr 2015 · Produced in raw, upfront fashion by Elvis Costello, The Specials still sounds exciting to this day as every snarl and sardonic intonation by Hall bleeds into your head, and every tip-tap drum snare crack makes it impossible to resist. The remastering also adds clarity and sharpness to the whole LP.

Voted by Record Mirror as the best album of the year, 'In The Studio's release was slightly tarnished by the fact that half the tracks were already available on singles that preceded it. It was a dark social commentary and despite being recorded over such a long period, sounded remarkably intact.
