The FIFA U-17 World Cup, founded as the FIFA U-16 World Championship, later changed to U-17 in 1991 and to its current name in 2007, is the annual world championship of association football for male players under the age of 17 organized by Fédération Internationale de Football Association ( FIFA ).
Il Campionato mondiale di calcio Under-17 1991, quarta edizione del torneo, si è svolto in Italia tra il 16 ed il 31 agosto 1991, nelle città di Firenze, Montecatini Terme, Viareggio, Massa, Carrara e Livorno. Il torneo è stato vinto dal Ghana, che ha conquistato il trofeo per la prima volta nella sua storia, battendo in finale la Spagna per 1-0.
Le prime tre edizioni furono riservate alle rappresentative Under-16 e solo dall'edizione del 1991, l'età limite fu alzata a 17. Con cinque successi, la Nigeria è la nazionale più vincente di questa competizione. La Germania, attuale detentrice, ha vinto il torneo per la prima volta nella sua storia.
