Water To Drink Not Write About is a surprise compilation album by Florence and the Machine, released January 28, 2022 unannounced on streaming platforms amidst the confirmation of Florence + The Machine performing in several European festivals for 2022.
It was followed a week later by another compilation, My Favorite Ghosts, both records made fans eagerly speculate about a possible comeback of the band for their fifth studio album.
The compilation title comes from a kind of inside joke between Florence Welch and Markus Dravs, main producer of How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, her third album.
In a 2015 interview with Zane Lowe, she mentioned that Dravs once gave her in studio a pint glass with the saying, “Water to drink from, not write about”, because she would sing too mach about water.
