Kay Kyser's Kollege of Musical Knowledge is an American old-time radio musical quiz program starring Kay Kyser. It was broadcast on Mutual, NBC, and ABC beginning on February 1, 1938, and ending on July 29, 1949.
Although Kyser and his orchestra gained fame through the "Kollege of Musical Knowledge," they were a successful band in their own right. They had 11 number one records, including some of the most popular songs of the late 1930s and early 1940s.
Kyser kept his radio show, Kay Kyser's Kollege of Musical Knowledge in the top ten for eleven years on NBC, yet if you ask the average swing fan about him today, they'll likely reply, "Kay Kyser. Who's she?"
His swing band hit it big once Ksyer began the "Kollege of Musical Knowledge" radio broadcast, which won huge ratings and sold-out audiences. From that springboard, Kyser appeared in movies and television, and did his part for World War II by entertaining U.S. troops at home and abroad.
Comedy Family Game-Show. A short-lived television version of the radio musical quiz program "Kay Kyser's Kollege of Musical Knowledge" (1938-1949). It was again hosted by the bandleader Kay Kyser, and featured a small cast of regular performers. It only lasted from December 1949 to December 1950.

Kay Kyser’s Kollege of Musical Knowledge ran on radio until 1949. Kyser retired from show business in the early 1950s and later became manager of the film and broadcasting department of the Christian Science Church. Kay Kyser died on June 23, 1985. He was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1990.
